A comforting, hearty dish with tender macaroni, flavorful ground beef, aromatic garlic, and onions simmered in a savory tomato sauce. Topped with melted cheddar cheese, this baked goulash is perfect for family dinners.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add elbow macaroni and cook for 3 minutes less than package directions. Drain and set aside.
Heat a large skillet over high heat. Add ground beef and chopped onion. Cook for 6-7 minutes until beef is browned and onions are translucent. Drain excess fat.
Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir to combine.
Add Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and adjust seasoning as needed.
Add cooked macaroni to the skillet, stirring to coat with sauce. Mix in shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
Transfer to a greased baking dish if the skillet is not oven-safe. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until bubbly and cheese is golden.
Remove from oven, let cool for a few minutes, and serve hot.
Notes
For added flavor, consider topping with additional cheese or fresh herbs before baking.
