Air fryers have been so helpful when cooking meals; they definitely made life easier. However, recently over 700,000 air fryers have been recalled because they are causing damage and danger to many families.
One child has been known to be injured by one of these air fryers, and hundreds have melted or caught on fire.
This recall included 772,000 Insignia air fryers and air fryer ovens that were sold both in the United States and Canada from Best Buy.
So far, over a hundred reports are due to the air fryer melting or catching on fire. There were 7 minor property damage cases and two injuries, one being a poor child’s leg.
The affected products were sold either in stores or online at the Best Buy website, Google, and eBay from February 2018 to 2022.
The CPSC stated, “Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled air fryers and air fryer ovens and return the product to Best Buy for a refund in the form of a credit for use at Best Buy stores or Bestbuy.com. Best Buy is contacting all known purchasers directly to arrange returns and providing pre-paid shipping boxes and labels and return instructions.”
Best Buy has sold 635,000 of the recalled products in the U.S. and another 137,000 in Canada.
These are the affected model numbers: NS-AF32DBK9, NS-AF32MBK9, NS-AF50MBK9, NS-AF53DSS0, NS-AF53MSS0, NS-AF55DBK9, NS-AFO6DBK1 and NS-AFO6DSS1.
