Do you want to decorate and perfume your home in a sustainable way? Start with waste, for example citrus peels.
Many special and useful ideas can be born from the remains, for you and to decorate your home. Try something different at no cost with citrus peels.

With orange peel
Citrus fruits and their strong smell are perfect for counteracting the proliferation of moths and butterflies in closets. We insert an orange zest into the flour and this will keep them well away.
Let’s change it every time it has dried!

With dried lemon
Always because citrus is the best ally, here is another effective and also fragrant trick. We take a lemon and cut it into thin, thin slices. Place the slices on a sheet of kitchen paper towels and cover with another absorbent sheet. We put it in the microwave and brown it for about 5 minutes. Let’s make sure every minute to let the steam out and then close and they will be ready dry (this step can also be done in the oven, but the period is longer, the choice is yours). Now let the lemon slices dry and then gently lift them off the paper. Put them in a container along with nails and place them in the closet. This will keep insects away from our food.

Hand scrub
To make a hand scrub, mix orange zest with two teaspoons of fine salt. We mix well and we will notice that slowly the oils present in the peel will mix with the salt. We use this mixture for a softening scrub in the shower.

Flavored oil
If we want to prepare an oil with a citrus flavor, a solution can undoubtedly be to leave the peels to infuse in a glass jar submerged in plenty of extra virgin olive oil. Over time, the peels will release their essential oils and the oil will take on that fresh, sweet-tart flavor perfect for summer salad dressing.

Candles
Cut the oranges in half, empty the oranges of the pulp and clean the inside of the rind. At this point, with the pasta cutters, embroider one of the two halves with some decorations. We insert one candle into the other and then cover to create beautiful and fragrant free homemade candles.
