White Hot Chocolate

Creamy, sweet, and utterly cozy, White Hot Chocolate is a dreamy winter drink that blends melted white chocolate with warm milk, a hint of vanilla, and a dollop of whipped cream.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups whole milk (or your favorite dairy-free alternative like almond or oat milk)
  • 8 oz white chocolate chips (or chopped white chocolate bars; Ghirardelli works wonders)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (optional but adds extra richness)
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract (Madagascar vanilla is my top pick)
  • Pinch fine sea salt (balances the sweetness)
  • Whipped cream for topping (homemade or store-bought)
  • Optional garnishes ground cinnamon, crushed peppermint, white chocolate shavings

Instructions

  • Pour the whole milk and heavy cream into a medium saucepan. Heat over medium-low until tiny bubbles form at the edges—no need to boil. Stir gently to keep it smooth.
  • Lower the heat, then stir in the white chocolate chips. Keep whisking to melt the chocolate evenly and prevent scorching.
  • Remove from heat and whisk in the vanilla extract and pinch of sea salt. Give it a taste; it should be sweet and silky.
  • Divide the White Hot Chocolate among mugs. Crown each cup with a big dollop of whipped cream.
  • Sprinkle with cinnamon or peppermint bits. Grab a cozy blanket and get ready to drift into bliss.

Notes

Use fresh, high-quality chocolate for a smoother melt. If you choose plant-based milk, stir constantly to prevent separation.
