  • 1 loaf of Italian bread or French baguette
  • 1 pound thinly sliced ribeye steak
  • 1 onion thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: sliced bell peppers, mushrooms, or jalapeños

Instructions
 

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Prepare Bread: Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise and place the halves cut side up on a baking sheet.
  • Heat Skillet: Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Cook Steak: Add 1 pound thinly sliced ribeye steak to the skillet, cooking until browned and fully cooked. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then set aside.
  • Sauté Onions: In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon olive oil and sauté 1 sliced onion until caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Add 2 minced garlic cloves and cook for an additional minute.
  • Assemble Bread: Spread the cooked steak evenly over the bread halves. Top with caramelized onions and garlic, then sprinkle with 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese.
  • Add Toppings: Add any optional toppings like bell peppers, mushrooms, or jalapeños if desired.
  • Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the bread is crisp.
  • Serve: Let the bread cool for a few minutes, then slice into portions and serve hot.
