  • cup milk or half-and-half Helps achieve the desired consistency.
  • 3-4 tablespoons canned chopped green chiles or jalapenos (Adds heat and flavor to the dip.)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin Enhances the Mexican-inspired flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon chipotle powder Adds a smoky depth of flavor optional but recommended.

Instructions
 

  • Preparation: Gather all your ingredients and choose your cooking method: either a slow cooker or a double boiler.
  • Using a Slow Cooker: Set your slow cooker to the lowest setting. Combine all ingredients in the slow cooker. Heat and stir occasionally until the cheese is melted and creamy, about 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  • Using a Double Boiler: Set up your double boiler over medium heat. Combine the milk, chiles or jalapenos, cumin, and chipotle powder in the top pot. Gradually add the cheese, stirring continuously until smooth and creamy.
  • Adjust Consistency: If the dip is too thick, add more milk or half-and-half as needed to reach your desired consistency.
  • Serve: Serve the dip warm with tortilla chips, or keep it warm in a small slow cooker or chafing dish.

Notes

For a spicier dip, increase the amount of chopped jalapenos. You can keep the dip warm in a slow cooker or reheat it gently if it thickens too much. Adjust the consistency with extra milk or half-and-half as needed.
