Ingredients

  • 3 (3-ounce) packages flavored gelatin pick assorted colors; sugar-free if you like fewer calories
  • 3 cups boiling water
  • 1½ cups chilled vodka or rum substitute tequila or flavored liqueur for a twist
  • Optional garnish: fresh berries, mint leaves, whipped cream

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, sprinkle all three packets of gelatin over 1½ cups of boiling water. Stir gently for about 30 seconds—avoid splashes. You’ll notice the powder dissolve into a glossy liquid.
  • Pour in 1½ cups of cold water to cool the mixture a bit; stir until smooth. This step helps prevent “stringy” gelatin.
  • Slowly whisk in the chilled vodka (or rum). Keep stirring until everything looks uniformly colored—if you see any wisps, whisk a little longer.
  • Use a small measuring cup or ladle to fill 1-ounce plastic shot cups about three-quarters full. For a fancier look, spoon into silicone molds shaped like stars or hearts.
  • Transfer the cups onto a baking sheet (for easy transport) and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm to the touch. Pro tip: cover with plastic wrap to prevent fridge odors.
  • Pop a berry or mint leaf on top, or add a swirl of whipped cream just before serving. Slide them off molds by dipping the bottom in warm water for two seconds.

Notes

Refrigerate these boozy bites in a covered container for up to 5 days—perfect for making ahead of parties. Avoid freezing, as the texture turns crumbly once thawed. If you need to transport them, keep cups snug on a tray and cover lightly with plastic wrap to prevent condensation.
