Ingredients

  • 1 9-inch pie crust homemade or store-bought
  • 8 slices bacon chopped
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place pie crust into a 9-inch pie pan and crimp the edges if using homemade dough.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook chopped bacon until crisp. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  • Sprinkle half of the cheese over the pie crust, layer with bacon. In a bowl, whisk eggs, heavy cream, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Pour over the bacon and cheese. Top with remaining cheese and optional parsley.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 35-40 minutes until the top is golden brown and the center is set. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a lighter option, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream and use reduced-fat cheese.
