Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour sifted
  • 1/4 teaspoon espresso powder optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup chocolate chips or chopped nuts optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x9-inch square pan with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk melted butter and sugar until glossy.
  • Crack in eggs one at a time, whisking vigorously after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  • Add cocoa powder, flour, and salt. Gently fold with a spatula. Add espresso powder if using.
  • Fold in chocolate chips or nuts if desired.
  • Spread batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
  • Cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into squares.

Notes

Substitute ingredients for dietary preferences and experiment with additional mix-ins like caramel, peanut butter, or fruit for a unique twist.
