A rich and decadent dessert that combines layers of moist chocolate cake with a light and fluffy cream filling, topped with a smooth chocolate icing. Perfect for any occasion where you want to impress with a deliciously nostalgic treat.
Preheat your oven as directed on the chocolate cake mix box.
Prepare the cake batter according to the box instructions.
Pour the batter into a greased 9x13-inch pan and bake as directed, usually 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.
In a large bowl, mix the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and margarine until smooth. Fold in the Cool Whip gently.
Slice the cooled cake horizontally into two layers. Place the bottom half back in the pan, spread the filling evenly over it, and top with the second half.
Mix the chocolate icing with milk until smooth.
Spread the icing over the top of the cake evenly.
Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before cutting into squares and serving.
Notes
For a different flavor, try using different types of cake mix or adding a layer of fresh fruit between the cake and cream filling.
